Our Singers

    Anne graduated from Augustana College, where she sang with the Augustana Choir and Chamber Singers, and has worked for the college as a research and instruction librarian since 2006. While living in the Boston area, she sang with the Back Bay Chorale and Musica Sacra, and now regularly performs with Quad City Choral Arts, the Handel Oratorio Society, and Nova Singers.

    Ben is the Director of Choirs at Wilson Middle School in the Moline-Coal Valley School District, while also serving as Ensemble Director at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. He has performed throughout the community at Circa 21’, Quad City Music Guild and the District Theatre, additionally singing for the past 4 years with Quad City Choral Arts. He received his Bachelors of Music in Music Education from University of Illinois.

    Brian is excited to be a part of the Nova Singers, where he enjoys both the rigor of the music and the skill of his colleagues. He sang in choral and a cappella groups in college while studying mathematics, chemistry, and music. He lives in the Quad Cities, sings with the QCCA and works as an assistant professor of mathematics at Augustana College.

    Curtis is the director of choral activities for the Rockridge School District. He received his B.A. in music, M.A. in vocal performance and M.A.E. in education from Truman State University. He has performed with Circa '21 Dinner Theater, Quad City Music Guild, The Green Room and City Opera Company of the Quad Cities. Curtis is a member of Quad City Choral Arts and bell choir director for the Church of Peace in Rock Island.

    Dane is currently working full time at Family Video, as well as teaching the entry level choir at Monmouth College, plus brief stints with the Galesburg Community Chorus. He is taking a break from pursuing a Master's in Voice from the University of Iowa. He lives in Burlington, IA with his girlfriend Megan, their dog Cairo, and their two cats Hermione and Ivan. He is very excited for this opportunity to sing once again with such a professional group of local musicians.

    Emily graduated from Augustana college in 2002 with a B.A. in vocal performance. She is Manager of Corporate Administration for the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. Emily is Adult Choir Director and Worship Team Director at her home church, Davenport First Church of the Nazarene, and a member of Quad City Choral Arts. She is active with the American Cancer Society, United Way of the Quad Cities and Iowa Quad Cities Rotary.

    Prior to singing with the Nova Singers, Eric was a member of the Chicago Choral Artists and during college sang in the Augustana Choir, Augustana Chamber Singers, and the Handel Oratorio Society. He currently works for Caterpillar as an intellectual property attorney and lives in Hopedale, IL. Eric would like to thank his wife, Kristina, and his three children, Drake, Eleanor, and Zane for their love and support.

    Hillary is a graduate of Western Illinois University where she majored in Music Business and Marketing. At Western, she participated in the Opera Theatre, University Singers, Vocal Jazz, and Madrigal Singers. Hillary also performs with Quad City Music Guild and Community of Christ Church. She works as an Associate Donor Relations Consultant for Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.

    Jeffrey lives in Davenport, Iowa with his wife, Keri, son Carter, and two daughters, Ella and Emma. He graduated from Augustana College, where he sang with the Augustana Choir and Augustana Chamber Singers. He later earned an MBA at St. Ambrose University, and currently works for EPIC Stone, LLC.

    Jenny is a graduate of Augustana College and a Speech-Language Pathologist. She has performed at Quad City Music Guild, the District Theatre, Quad Ctiy Theatre Workshop, and Circa 21. Jenny also sings with Quad City Singers and is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport.

    Joel graduated from Augustana College in 2004. He has previously sung with the Augustana Choir, Handel Oratorio Society, Genesius Guild, Quad City Opera Group, Quad City Music Guild, Quad City Choral Arts, and Florida Pro Musica. Joel can also be found riding his motorcycle, watching birds, planting things, maintaining his website "Sud Savant", and bothering his beautiful wife Anna.

    Prior to singing with the Nova Singers, Keri was a member of the Augustana Choir and the Augustana Chamber Singers. She currently is employed as the Community Service Coordinator for Augustana College. She and her husband Jeff, live in Davenport with their three children, Carter, Ella, and Emma.

    Lori is a graduate of Cornell College and Western Illinois University with undergraduate and graduate degrees in music education. Lori is the director of choral activities at North Scott High School, giving leadership to a program of six choirs with 160 singers. In addition, she is the director of St. John's Methodist Chancel Choir and has served in leadership roles in the Iowa Choral Directors Association.

    Marie, a native of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, graduated from Northwestern University where she studied under Robert Harris and Nancy Gustafson. In 2009, Marie moved to the Quad Cities to become the choir director at Geneseo Middle School. Marie thoroughly enjoys her teaching career and everything the Quad Cities has to offer. She is proud to perform with such a high quality ensemble as Nova Singers.

    Martina received a degree in music education from Knox College and studied under Dr. Laura Lane. Martina teaches elementary music in Galesburg, Illinois and is excited to begin her first full season with Nova Singers.

    Formerly known as Malley, Maureen is new to Nova Singers. Mrs. Holmes is from Moline and currently living in Rock Island with husband Ben and their puppy, Watson. This fall, she began work as a vocal instructor at both Augustana College and St. Ambrose University, and maintains a bustling private voice studio in Moline. Maureen also serves as the Choir Director at First Congregational Church in Moline. She received her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Drake University and a Masters in Music in Voice Performance/Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College.

    Michael has sung with Quad City Choral Arts and Opera at Augustana's summer collaboration with Rock Island's Genesius Guild. He is the live host of WVIK's Sunday evening classical program, Serenade. Michael is also a cellist, performing with area ensembles, from the string quartet Quartrio to larger groups, backing up performers at the I-Wireless Center and pit-orchestras for the Clinton Showboat Theater, Quad City Music Guild, Opera at Augustana and Opera Quad Cities. He also teaches cello and is co-music and choir director for St. John's Lutheran Church in Rock Island.

    Pam is a retired vocal music teacher. She currently teaches vocal music part-time at Geneseo High School. She received her B.M.E. degree from Augustana College and her M.M.E. degree from Northern Illinois University. Pam is the organist and senior choir director at First Lutheran Church in Rock Island. She is the founder/director of the Community Choir and Children's Choir of Geneseo. In her spare time she teaches 33 voice and piano students and supervises Millikin University vocal music student teachers in Geneseo.

    Pat is director of choral music and drama at Northeast Middle/High School near Clinton, Iowa. He received his B.S. in music from Mount Mercy College, M.M. in piano from the University of Notre Dame, and B.Ed. in music education from St. Ambrose University. A member of the St. Ambrose University-Community Symphony Orchestra, he has performed onstage frequently in community theater. Pat and his wife Jolinda live in DeWitt, Iowa.

    Pier holds a B.A. in music and education from Knox College. He has previously sung with KANTOREI of Rockford and the Knox College Choir and Chamber Singers. His love for choirs began in middle school and his devotion to the craft has led him to pursue a career in choral conducting. He is currently Director of Choirs at Churchill Junior High School in Galesburg, and also directs the First Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir and the Knox College Women's Chorale.

    River teaches K-12 vocal music in the R.O.W.V.A school district. She received her degree in Music Education from Augustana College in and is currently working on her Masters from Illinois State University. At Augustana, she participated in the opera program and sang with the Augustana Choir and Chamber Singers. She also performed with the Genesius Guild, Handel Oratorio Society, and Chicago Chorale.

    Sarah is a graduate of Western Illinois University where she studied Music Business and Marketing. While at WIU, Sarah was an active member of University Singers, Madrigal Singers, Vocal Jazz, and Opera Theatre, and was a two-time NATS winner. Sarah also performs with Quad City Music Guild and Quad City Singers, and enjoys playing volleyball. She works as a Project Manager for AT&T and lives with her husband Adam in Rock Island.
